SPORTS BUILDING LITTLE ENTREPRENEURS

Don’t you remember that joy as a kid of hearing the lunch bell ring. Man you would get up from your seat and sprint outside so you could finish your lunch and head out to the playground. You played games and sports like handball, kickball, basketball, four squares, football, dodge ball, capture the flag and the list goes on and on. You loved them all, and the truth was you didn’t care if you won or lost you just wanted to play.

COMPETITIVE SPORTS DEVELOPING ENTREPRENEURS

Then you got older and the games and sports became more competitive. Everyone still wanted to play the games, but they also wanted to WIN. You wanted to win because you wanted to stay on the court and continue to play, or have the title of king of the court, or just because you couldn’t stand losing. If you did lose though all you wanted was another shot. As long as the bell hadn’t rang you still had a chance to redeem yourself and take control of the court or field.

SPORTS SECRETLY TEACHING YOU HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

See as a child, teenager, or young adult you played sports for the love of the game. There was something to that game that was fun and exciting but also made you work hard and grow as an individual. It taught you some life lessons like learning how to deal with failure and how to never give up. Even when you began to play to win, the game taught you new lessons. You didn’t care how many times you lost, you just wanted one more shot to put that win under your belt. You wanted to be the king of the court, not just someone trying to work their way up the ladder. Losing eventually became unacceptable to you so you pushed harder and harder to make sure that the losses were farther and farther in between. As you continued to develop your skills, habits, and mindset you thrived on the court or field and nothing could stop you. If someone or something challenged you, you were resilient and would figure out a way to get the job done. See sports molded you more than you think.

HOW SPORTS AND AN ENTREPRENEUR RELATE

You are probably thinking ya man, that was a great time in my life but how does that apply to being an entrepreneur? First of all, get out there and play sports, if you are getting older or have had past injuries that slow you down who cares. Just modify your movements, and take it easy. With that said, how would you like to get that same rush of sports? Something that is fun and exciting, but makes you work hard and grow as an individual. Something where you overcome failure and just ask for that next shot at a win. Something where you can not just be the king of the court, but king of your own castle. That is what being an entrepreneur is all about.

HOW SPORTS GAVE YOU AN ADVANTAGE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

You see sports were developing you into an entrepreneur the whole time. You have an advantage over others who never played, because you already have the mindset down. You know what it takes to be at the top of your game. You understand that you need to develop your skills and habits so that you can perform your best, and you know that the best experience you can get is by actually playing the game.
