The holidays always come upon us faster than we expect them too so making sure your business is prepared can be challenging. With social media comes more ways to brand your business for the holidays. Social media marketing is always a powerful way to build your business but there are some tips and tricks you can integrate to elevate your social media for the holiday season.

Last year’s Cyber Monday brought in $1.4 billion in online spending which made it the largest shopping day in internet history. This year promises to increase so be ready and be a part of it!

1. Show Appreciation – Everyone wants to be appreciated and your potential customers are no different. Offer free gifts, coupons, or other specials to show your appreciation for one and all.

2. Holiday Events – Provide fun competitions and events in which your visitors and customers can participate. Throw an online holiday party with themed promotional offers such as 12 Days of Giveaways or Tis the Reason for Giving. The possibilities are endless for offering holiday themed gifts and giveaways. Promote these events on all your social sites as well as your main site and offer incentives for participation.

3. Holiday Engagement – Encourage your friends and followers to share their holiday tips and tricks. Most people love sharing their ideas especially for the holidays. Get people involved in active holiday discussions and debates.

4. Holiday Video Marketing – Create fun themed holiday videos to share with your fans and followers. A fun marketing twist would be to embed a discount code somewhere in the video to provide more incentive for people to watch. You could also post a clue to finding an even bigger and better discount or free gift. Post these holiday videos on your social sites for all to see. Make them short, interesting and as holiday-themed as possible.

5. Share Tips and Hints – On the flipside, be sure to share holiday tips and hints as well. Even short tutorials or ecourses with a holiday theme would work well. Remember, you want to be a resource for your friends and followers, not just make a sale!

6. Daily Drawing or Contest – Hold daily contests or drawings on your social sites to get people to come and visit every day. For example: 12 Days of Christmas Trivia. Post a Christmas trivia question each day and with each correct answer comes a chance at a big prize or discount.

7. Points for Prizes – On the same track, give points for each visit per day and offer specials, prizes, gifts, etc. for so many points.

8. Decorate for the Holidays – Make changes to your sites/pages for the holidays. There are many options for graphics to easily add to your site. Change your Facebook cover photo to a heartwarming holiday scene. Add some holiday lights to your site. Get festive and spread that holiday cheer!

9. Encourage Giving – Inspire people to give to charities as much as they can. Let them know that through you, they can get what they need AND give to people in need. Donate a percentage of all your holiday sales to charity. If they prefer, let the customer choose the charity. Provide options for them so they feel more in control. Giving and helping others in need is one thing we can all do to help each other.

10. Start Early – The holiday season seems to get longer and longer so do not wait to start your holiday marketing. The big stores now start marketing Christmas in September so be sure to be there as well. Start planning your holiday marketing several months ahead of time so when the season is upon us, you are well-prepared.

Marketing is an art form like any other. You need to have imagination and creativity to come up with innovative, successful campaigns. The holidays provide you with a platform to really soar in your marketing efforts.

Happy Holidays and Masterful Marketing to You!

A Christmas Story of Hope

Although seasonal in context, this heart-warming story conveys a timeless expression of hope. It would make an excellent gift for any child – but also for someone suffering from a physical handicap. Or, for someone who may have allowed a bitter disappointment to “blind the eyes of their heart” from seeing their true purpose in life.”

A Christmas Story of Hope
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ivy_Elizabeth_Harwell]Ivy Elizabeth Harwell

A sad feeling settled over the little crooked pine as he watched the last shopper leave the Christmas tree lot. He began to think back to the years he had spent at the edge of the forest. He remembered how excited he had been in telling the nearby trees of his dream – how some day he would become a Christmas tree and be draped with glittering decorations. He remembered also – how they had laughed, and laughed at him.

“Look at your crooked trunk!” They scoffed, laughing uproariously.”

No one would ever want you for their Christmas tree. You have to be tall and beautiful.” A tall, stately pine nearby retorted smugly. “And you have to have a straight trunk and lush green bows like ours to be selected for such a special honor!”

“Yeah! You look more like a scrub brush!” The other trees chided in unison, as they all started laughing. “You will never be chosen!”

Their remarks cut deep in the little crooked pine tree’s heart. But he knew what they said was true. He was crooked and bent. Yet he wanted so much to grow straight and tall. As a seedling, he had always tried very hard to stretch his tiny limbs toward the sun. Although, they were small, he hoped they would grow and become strong and lush green like all the other trees nearby.

The seasons passed and the other seedlings continued to grow tall and straight. But as they grew, they began casting long dark shadows over the little pine. Only small flickers of the sun’s rays filtered down on his already sparsely needled branches.

So, as time passed the little crooked pine tree only grew more and more crooked.

Finally, the exciting day came that the little crooked pine had dreamed of. The huge truck belonging to the tree cutters came rumbling bumpily down the road and up the hillside to where the acres of trees had been growing for this year’s Christmas harvest. It stopped very near to the little crooked pine.

In moments, the two burly men inside the truck jumped out and began unloading their chain saws. Then, they quickly went about selecting and marking all the trees they planned to cut.

Buzzz! Buzzz! Buzzz! Sounds from the busy men’s chainsaws could be heard. Down went the first tree. The little crooked pine watched in awe at the men’s bulging muscles as they tightly gripped the handle of their huge saw.

Buzzz! Buzzz! Buzzz! The saws continued echoing noisily across the hillside as the men continued working. Finally, the trees that had been cut down were picked up and stacked in the bed of the big truck.

Anxiously, the little crooked pine watched as each tree was carefully selected, chopped down, then loaded on the truck. After each one had fallen, he had been certain that he would be next. But the men did not even look his direction. Now he was just about to give up hope of ever being chosen to be a Christmas tree.

Suddenly, he heard it! Buzzz! Buzzz! Buzzz! He had not noticed that the big man had walked up behind him just before the chainsaw came smashing through his trunk! Just as quickly, the big man picked him up and threw him high in the air to land on top of the other trees.

“Whee!” said the little crooked pine. He was so excited to be chosen to be a Christmas tree. Very soon – he felt certain – he would be in a warm and cozy room enjoying the laughter of some little girl or boy.

In his excitement and anticipation, though, the little crooked pine had failed to hear what the big man had gruffly said to his partner. “Hey! Throw in that scrubby one, too,! He said. “It’s too crooked to ever be a Christmas tree. But maybe someone will buy it to cut off its branches to use for trimmings on their fireplace mantle.

Now, the snow was falling more heavily. It’s chilly white blanket had nearly covered the ground – and the little crooked pine. The last shopper hurried out with their Christmas tree and the big burly man began to slowly shut the gate.

“Can you believe it, Sid?” The big man exclaimed proudly to his partner. “We sold every last one of our trees. That is – except that scrub. We’ve got the rent on this lot paid for two more days, but let’s get this mess cleaned up. Then we can pull out early in the morning. It looks like we’ll get to eat Christmas dinner at home after all.”

Then, as he turned to walk away, he added gruffly. “Oh, by the way, just throw that little scrub pine over the fence. I should have known it wouldn’t sell. I ought to have left it back there on the hillside. Nobody wants a crooked little pine for a Christmas tree!”

Do you feel unloved and unwanted? Do you think there can ever be a purpose for your life? Find out what happens to the little crooked pine tree by reading the inspiring E-Book, entitled, ‘The Little Crooked Pine – a Christmas Story of Hope and Love.

Classic Christmas Stories Are a Timeless Gift

Classic Christmas Stories Are a Timeless Gift
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Melanie_West]Melanie West

Absconding in the attic, I rummaged through an unyielding box of Christmas decorations looking for the beautiful ornaments from years gone by, when, amidst the pile I land upon “the book.” Immediately a smile crosses my lips. Fond memories of Christmas’ past come flooding back. In my mind’s eye, I see my mother gathering our family together to read a favored story.

This family tradition began when I was only 8-years old and continued well into my teens. My mother would call us into the family room…fireplace lit…lights aglow on the Christmas tree…peace and quiet spreading throughout our house as we snuggled under the weight of the family quilt. It was then that my sister and I would anxiously anticipate the opening words; the beginning of a treasured tale from our most prized collection of beloved Christmas stories.

There was something reassuring about this particular ritual. We could hardly wait for my mother to bring out “the book” each December. Year after year, this tradition was carried out in our home and year after year the stories became more meaningful to me.

Even when I had grown into a teenager, I still loved it when my mother brought out the much-loved Christmas book. It filled me with a great sense of joy and connection. As I matured, the stories grew richer as my own understanding of their meaning expanded. Steeped in tradition, knowledge, morals and values, the stories gave me new insight about life, love, family and spirituality. As I began experiencing my own personal hopes, dreams and desires, the stories took on a new layer of significance. It happened slowly, but one Christmas, I realized that as I had grown, the stories had grown with me. Now buried deep within my soul their masterfully crafted sentences had become deeply significant. As a young girl I simply loved the magic of the stories; as a young woman, I could more readily relate to the wonder and struggle the characters encountered.

Thank goodness, my mother understood that children never outgrow the desire to hear a story read aloud. She sensed that we loved hearing her comforting voice. Listening to her infuse the literature with life and passion inspired each of us to learn how to train our voices, empowering us to learn how to express heart-felt enthusiasm.

So, as another season approaches, “the book” is being unpacked. My heart is grateful for the strong family traditions I grew up with, my soul anticipating the awakening of the true Spirit of Christmas. My inner child dancing with excitement, wondering which one of these “perfect” Christmas stories I will read to my children this December.

You can’t get more country than this homemade pumpkin pie recipe. It was adapted from the Iowa Farm Bureau’s 1929 Farm Cookbook. This holiday pumpkin pie recipe has graced Thanksgiving tables for over 50 years.

Modern touches have been added to this historic holiday recipe. The original recipe calls for a real pumpkin and doesn’t specify an oven temperature because cook stoves back then didn’t have anything to measure temperature with.

The original pie recipe also called for “sweet” milk. This was a common ingredient in old recipes but simply refers to whole milk, which contains all the original fat and is therefore “sweeter.” Whole milk would be the most readily available on an Iowa farm.

Homemade Country Style Pumpkin Pie – Fresh from the Iowa Farm

Ingredients

3 cups pumpkin fresh or canned
2 cups sugar
2 1/2 cups whole milk
1 tbs butter
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 tbs flour
pinch salt
4 eggs beaten separately and added last

Directions

Mix pumpkin, sugar and spice and beat well.

Add Spices, flour and butter and continue to mix well.

Beat eggs separately and add last, blending in.

Pour into prepared pie crust and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, then turn the temperature down to 350 about one hour or until knife comes out clean from center.

Cool and serve with whipped cream.

We’ve been enjoying this pumpkin pie recipe every Thanksgiving since I was a child on the farm myself.
