I’ve been reading a really great book on mindset. It’s called “Mindset – The New Psychology of Success” by Carol S. Dweck. She outlines how people have two types of mindsets, a fixed or growth mindset. What’s fascinating is the people with the “fixed” mindset feel that being perfect equals success. They are so pre-occupied with it, they miss the chance to grow and actually be successful. In essence they get in their own way, and stay stuck while trying to reach perfection. The people with the “growth” mindset see success as a process by which they are continuously learning new things. Success to them is a journey and not measured every step of the way. These people take action and move forward.

Think about it for a second. If you’re constantly trying to be perfect in everything you do, really what you’re doing is holding yourself back from moving forward. You likely care A LOT about what others think. If this is the case, every single decision you make is based on what others might think of you. Think of your sales calls for example. If you’re on a call with a potential client and you’re more concerned with what that person thinks of you rather than how you can help them, you’re sunk! You won’t be able to properly convey to them how you can help them and what you can do for them. Instead you’re analyzing your every move for fear of being judged. This is limiting your success and business growth. It is likely showing up in all areas of your life too.

The good news is that you can change it! Just learning and knowing the two different mindsets exist has increased your awareness. You can start to see how the “fixed” mindset is actually limiting you from achieving happiness. With your newfound awareness you can start to pay attention to how this is showing-up in all areas of your life and do something about it. Take a few minutes to think about how your trying to be perfect has kept you playing small and limited your growth. Maybe you’ve wanted to have everything just right – website, business cards, tag line, marketing message, etc. – before attending those events. Sure being prepared is important, but not to the extent that you’re stuck in “perfection paralysis”. Meaning your need for perfection is keeping you stuck behind your computer fixing and fussing over every last thing, instead of doing what you need to do to grow your business – which is getting out there, and gaining visibility and traction.

The mind can be a crazy beast! It can keep you stuck and it can also move you forward. I’ve witnessed these different mindsets with my own clients. One client has fully admitted he is new to running a business and is just so eager to learn. He moved forward with all of my suggestions quickly. Another client, given the same suggestions, hums and haws over them and makes slow progress with growing her business. She is very nervous of making a mistake. You can see the first client has the growth mindset and is just interested in learning and moving forward, and not with being perfect. The second client wants everything to be perfect before getting out there and it’s actually stopping her from making progress. Pay attention to where you are doing this. Having a slight shift in perspective and the way you look at things will make all of the difference.

Are you one of those people who have a dog with impaired eye sight? If yes, you probably know that taking care of a blind dog is not as easy as caring for the sighted dog.

Your blind dog will bump into things in its path but gradually will learn the layout of your house, just the way blind people do! However, if you change or shift your furniture, they will again have difficulty in walking and will again stumble around for a while. So you have to be very careful when making any interior changes.

At the same time, it is also very important for you to ensure that you keep the path for your dog clear and make sure that everything is picked up and kept away.

Apart from your house, you also need to keep your yard clear, as the dog is likely to wander in your yard. After all, that’s his playground. The lawn mower should be put away and the chairs must be rearranged in a position that would not cause any injury to your dog.

If your house has a pool, make sure that it is fenced, as pools could also be dangerous for blind dogs, especially for the pups. This is very important because even if the dog knows how to swim, he may not be able to locate the stairs to get out of the pool. Due to exhaustion, he may eventually drown and die.

If your house has a staircase without the railings, it may be all the more dangerous and can result in severe injury to your dog due to a fall from a height. You must put something up along the bottom portion of the railing to avoid a tragic situation. You may find it a little inconvenient, but the very fact that you love your dog so much will make everything easier for you.

It is not too difficult to keep a blind dog. All you need is a little planning, backed up by some extra patience. Fencing off a pool, leaving the furniture in place, and always keeping walkways clear of toys are the things you can do. If you follow these suggestions, you will notice that your blind dog is not very different from any other dog in your neighborhood.

Different reasons are responsible for blindness in dogs. Some cannot be treated. However, there are many cases in which you may be able to give the gift of sight to your blind dog. Of course, you’ll need a good amount of money for those surgeries and treatments. Often, due to financial constraints or due to some other reason, people opt to let their dog live with its blindness, but take very good care of it.

One very important thing to understand and remember – unlike humans who do not like to live with their disabilities, dogs are happy to live their lives despite any physical limitations that they may have.

Your dog is your family member and it deserves all the love and care that you can offer. Besides, it is not all that difficult to take care of your blind dog.

August should be a big improvement over June and July. There could be a few days when things don’t go our way, but for the most part life should be back to normal. Watch out, things may be so good this month, that we don’t get anything accomplished.

August should be a big improvement over June and July. There could be a few days when things don’t go our way, but for the most part life should be back to normal. Uranus and Pluto will still be battling in the background, and this may bring a few unexpected tragedies that could upset some of our communities. But, Mars is going to be in a very good mood, bringing us stamina and creative energy, and we also have a blue moon. (A blue moon is the second full moon in the same month.) Watch out, things may be so good this month, that we don’t get anything accomplished.

August will begin with the Full Moon in Aquarius, and the Sun will be dancing with Jupiter. We could have some big ideas, and some of those ideas will be unique (maybe even ridiculous) the first couple days of August. Things could get rather creative for the weekend of August 4th and 5th under the influence of the Pisces Moon. We may get a burst of energy Sunday evening (US) as the Moon crosses into Aries.

The week of August 6th may begin routine, but schedules could get upset as early as Tuesday, August 7th, with Mercury entering his retrograde station (the point where Mercury switches from retrograde to direct). Mercury governs transportation, communication, and neighbors, so we may encounter some issues in those areas from Tuesday through Thursday, August 9th. But, we may find that these little inconveniences don’t bother us much, because Venus and Neptune will be keeping our thoughts on a higher plane.

The weekend of August 10th will be under the game loving influence of the Gemini Moon. Its going to be a great weekend for competition, conversations, short trips, and two of everything. But, we may be feeling a bit more moody on Monday, August 13th, as the Moon enters emotional Cancer. Our energy should be stronger than usual most of this week, with Mars and Saturn joining forces. But, Venus will be crossing the dreaded Uranus-Pluto Square, and this could bring major upsets with loved ones and our finances on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 14th through the 16th. By the New Moon on Friday, August 17th, we will be ready to roll up our sleeves and cleanup any “fallout” from the previous days’ disaster.

Excitement could be the tone for the weekend of August 17th. Mercury and Uranus will energize social events, and possibly bring an unexpected call from an old (or new) friend. The Sun and Mars will also be sending nervous energy our way, and we may end up doing something we will regret. Think carefully before you act. The Sun-Mars influence will continue through Monday, August 20th.

The Week of August 20th may begin a bit out of balance under the Libra Moon, but things should level out by Tuesday, and new ideas may start popping up in our minds through Wednesday evening (US) while Mercury shakes hands with Jupiter. The Sun will enter Virgo on Wednesday, August 22nd, and Mars will enter Scorpio on Thursday. This may turn our thoughts and our passions to the work we have ahead of us. Most of us will intuitively know what to do, but some will get a bit confused on Thursday, August 23rd, with the Sun and Neptune deluding one another.

We may be ready to tackle some creative projects by the weekend of August 24th with Mars and Neptune singing in harmony. Our energy will be strong and focused through Sunday, August 26th. And, the last week of August could turn out to be very productive. The Sun and Pluto will be encouraging us to get rid of clutter, and Mercury and Saturn will keep our perspectives sound, through Thursday, August 30th. We will have a “blue” Full Moon on Friday, the last day of August, in the magical, mystical sign of Pisces. Some will really be ready to “howl,” and some will get stupid.

Things will not be so easy come September. There could be some stellar gears in a jam. Check back next month to find out more.
