If I had just 3 minutes to sit and share some advice with you, what would it be? That’s an easy one for me to answer because I’d focus on the one thing you can do to change the course of your life. This one exercise will help you hit new goals and objectives, and move beyond where you’re at now to where you always dreamed of going.

Think about this: You become what you think about most of the time. If you’re thinking about your goals and executing your plan, you will ultimately become what you’re thinking about.

Makes sense, right? Amazingly, it’s this concept that is missed most often by people.

In his book, What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard, Mark McCormick surveyed Harvard MBA graduates in 1979 and asked if, upon graduating, they had written down clear goals and a plan for achieving those goals.

84% had no written goals and no plan.

13% had goals, but didn’t write them down.

3% had written goals and a plan to achieve them.

In 1989, he re-surveyed those same graduates. Out of the 13% who had goals but didn’t write them down, they were earning twice what the 84% were earning. The 3% were earning 10x what the other 97% were earning.

So, if the graduates were making, let’s say $100,000, the 3% were earning $1M per year, on average. The difference between having goals and a plan can be the difference of $900,000. Let’s assume 30 years of working, $900,000 is an outrageous amount of money – a $27M difference.

The moral of the story? Don’t short-change yourself. Make the commitment to yourself to sit down and go through this 5-step process. Would you rather be in the 3% or the 97%?

There is a big difference between those who go through life running on random and those who look at life and find every day as a chance to get better through clear, written goals and a plan.

To make sure these goals transfer from your conscious to subconscious mind, take ownership of your goals:

I am…

I make…

I have…

Then be sure to include a specific timeframe for reaching your goals. The more precise you are, the better the chances of achieving your goals.

“I make $250,000 in profit from real estate investing by the start of 2014.”

“I have 2 extra hours each day to spend with my family by August, 2012.”

“I weigh 175 lbs. by January, 2013, and I have achieved this through a healthy diet and consistent exercise.”

Sit down for the next 30-60 minutes and think about what your real life goals and objectives are, esp. financial – 1 year, 5 years:

a. Health and fitness

b. Spiritual

c. Love/relationships

d. Parenting or mentoring

e. Social life

f. Financial

g. Career

h. Intellectual

Spend as much time as it takes to write down those goals.

Look at those goals every day and take action.

Make specific plans to achieve the goals every day.

Work your plan every day and achieve your goals in the amount of time allotted.

Baby Sleep – Four Tips To Get Your Baby To Sleep Through The Night

Baby Sleep – Four Tips To Get Your Baby To Sleep Through The Night
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Elizabeth_Aitken]Elizabeth Aitken

When mothers first bring home their newborn, their sleep life is not likely to be the same again for a long time. We hear about babies sleeping through the night as early as four months, but in fact parents are known to exaggerate to others when recalling how long their baby sleeps for.

Babies sleep differently to adults and take longer to get to sleep. When they do sleep, they sleep more lightly than adults as well. This is a survival mechanism because babies need to protect themselves from getting too hot, cold or hungry or from remaining in an awkward position. Little babies innately know that they need to be parented and crying is the only mechanism that they have to communicate their needs.

New mothers often wonder what they are doing wrong when their 5 month old baby is still waking two or more times between 10pm and dawn. All babies have different sleep personalities and sleep differently. You as a parent are not necessarily doing any thing wrong. However, there are some measures you can take to help your baby get into a routine of sleeping right through the night sooner rather than later.

Keep An Eye On Daytime Naps

Firstly, make sure that your baby’s daytime naps are not too long. It is hard to wake a sleeping baby when you are relishing the break, but if they sleep for too long during the day you are bound to have a more alert baby at bedtime. Also make sure that you feed the baby well and often during the day – especially when they are really small. Get into a habit of making feed time feel different during the day compared to the night. You may have music on or bright toys for baby to watch. Don’t try too hard to keep the noise level down during the day.

Give Them A “Dream Feed”

Secondly, remember that babies only have little stomachs and it is hunger that usually wakes them up during the night. A helpful idea may be to feed your baby just before you are going to bed yourself. Try not to awaken them. See if you can get them to suck while they are still sleeping and them put them down again after what has been referred to as their “dream feed”.

Don’t Always Change Baby’s Diaper

When your baby does wake for a feed in the night, try to keep it as quiet as possible. Keep the lights dimmed and do your best to keep your little one settled. Use a quiet and soothing voice. You might even choose not to change your baby if this is a feed that you want to cut out. This may sound a bit cruel, but if you have put plenty of diaper cream on your baby before they went to bed, they can probably last all the way through the night with one diaper, even though it is wet. Of course it is different if they have dirtied themselves.

Regularity Is Important

Finally, routine is really important. Try to get a regular routine happening as soon as possible – especially at bedtime. It may be that you give baby their last feed in a darkened room with a certain lullaby. As your little one gets a bit older, bedtime is commonly story time. You could begin telling stories without reading quite early, so your little one recognizes that “story” leads to “bed”.

Hopefully, if you put some of the tips given above into practice, they will help you get your baby sleeping through the night sooner rather than later.

Looking at Yourself, Objectively

Looking at Yourself, Objectively
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Marilyn_L_Davis]Marilyn L Davis

When someone asks you to look at some aspect of yourself that you find objectionable, you will notice that you become defensive, angry, embarrassed, or impolite. You will sometimes become openly hostile to the individuals who are trying to point something out to you. This hostility should be a clue for you. The immediate question you need to ask yourself is, “What am I defending?”

You may discover it is your ego; it can be your illusion of yourself that you have wanted to project, or it may be that you still judge particular aspects of your behavior as so bad that you absolutely refuse to acknowledge that they are part of you.

The only way to determine if there is truth in what is being put out for you to look at is to quietly, objectively take in what is being said and see if it is true; honestly determine the truth or lack of it for yourself about yourself. Becoming defensive, argumentative, and combative will not allow you to look at anything.

It is easy to become defensive when your family, employer, or your peers focus on your short-comings, but they all have a responsibility to help you see things about yourself that you may be denying, justifying, or minimizing. They realize that they will also be, or have been, in a position at some point where someone asked them to look at something that they too might have judged as objectionable.

Notice that you are usually eager to hear the statements that you judge to be compliments. You like to hear praise for some aspect of yourself; you swell with pride and feel stroked.

Criticism and Compliments can both be helpful

The reality is that when you learn to take both criticism and compliments as merely comments on aspects of yourself to look at; you will have made great strides in seeing yourself from multiple perspectives.

There has been much written about our blind sides. One reference is the side away from which one is directing one’s attention. There are times that we would prefer that everyone in the room had their attention directed somewhere other than at us! Easier and less embarrassing ways to identify and change your thoughts, actions, and behaviors is to learn to do an honest self-appraisal.

When you look at the negative aspects of yourself, see if you can redirect or refocus them. Let’s say you are an arrogant “know- it- all”. How might you use your knowledge about a subject in a more constructive helpful manner?

Try not being the first to respond to questions about a subject from others, actually demonstrate some humility, and stop trying to get the first word in or the limelight.

It would probably require a shift in attitude on your part, but if you approach it logically, you may be the resident expert on “x”, but you know that you legitimately do not have experience and expertise in “y”, only an opinion.

Assessing your strengths and talents as well as your limitations and negative or unhealthy aspects will give you broader perspective on who you are.

Arming yourself with this knowledge, you can put effort into changing the aspects of yourself that need modifying or changing and instead of the “know- it-all” who volunteers an answer to everything, you may become the expert that is asked.

Easy Pumpkin Creme Brulee Recipe

Easy Pumpkin Creme Brulee Recipe
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Shelley_Pogue]Shelley Pogue

I love the Fall season and being from Texas we are always happy to be on the other side of a hot summer. I love the cooler weather and all of the fresh root vegetables, and winter squash that Fall brings. I had a catering event here in Austin, TX and I normally prepare a formal dessert, and creme brulee is one that is pretty popular among most people. I had an event where I was able to really experiment on some items, and I was told to surprise them.

So, that is exactly what I did with all of the foods for that particular event. I decided to do roasted root vegetables, as well as a pumpkin creme brulee for them, and it was an absolute hit! I will now add this to one of my favorite desserts that I like to eat myself, and I want to share it with everyone else. I hope you enjoy this as much as my clients, friends, and I do!

Ingredients you will need:

1 16 oz can of Pure Pumpkin (I used Libby’s but you can use what is available)

3 cups of Heavy Cream

3/4 cup of Sugar

12 Large Egg Yolks

1 tsp of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste (Sur Le Table is where I get mine) If you do not have this you can use real vanilla bean. Vanilla Extract is not the same!

1/2 teaspoon of Pumpkin Pie Spice

1/3 teaspoon of Allspice

1/4 teaspoon of Cinnamon

1/2 sheet aluminum foil to cover during cooking

**** Preheat oven to 300 degrees ****

1. Add the egg yolks and sugar and mix well for 2-3 minutes or until the egg yolks are a pale yellow. You can use a mixer if you do not want to use a wire whisk for this process.

2. dd all ingredients except the heavy cream and mix well.

3. Fold in the cream gently, once mixed, add to the ramekins.

4. You will want to use a pan that has high sides to add ramekins to a water bath. The water needs to come up about half way up the ramekins.

5. Take a sheet of foil and lay over the top but do not make it tight around the pan. You just want to keep it covered to keep the top from burning. I would start checking after about 40-45 minutes. If it is still kind of giggly you will turn the pan and cook more and start to check about every 10 minutes or so until it is done.

Make sure you do not have the foil tight on the pan you do not want to create any steam you just want to keep it from burning.

6. After you remove from the oven let is chill down for about 30 minutes or until cool enough to refrigerate. You should refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight.

7. Add some sugar to the top of the dessert and use a torch to caramelize the sugars, and repeat at least 1 more time until you have a thick sugary crust. You will need to add back to the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes to make sure the crust has cooled, then serve yourself or your guests a tasty Fall Dessert

Dog Training Is Critical Because He Needs To Know YOU Are The Alpha Leader!

Dog Training Is Critical Because He Needs To Know YOU Are The Alpha Leader!
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Davey_Martin]Davey Martin

Dogs do not have the same ability to think as humans do, therefore, one should not try to treat their dog as an intellectual equal. Doing so will leave one sadly disappointed by the results they receive. However one is about to learn how to properly treat their dog so they can train it.

A good tip is to get a breed of dog that matches your lifestyle. If you have kids, you’ll want a breed that’s good with kids. Chihuahuas have become really popular over the years and many families have started buying them. They aren’t great with kids however, and a lot of them are being left in shelters.

The best way to prevent your dog from barking excessively is to make him more comfortable with whatever it is he barks at frequently. Dogs bark at anything that scares of threatens them, so if you show your dog that the object of their fear is nothing to be afraid of, he’ll stop barking.

Throwing away your dog’s food bowl can assist you with your training program. Studies have shown that animals respond well to working for their meals. Incorporate food as a reward in your training and also, use it for entertainment purposes. You can do this by putting the food in a toy or a puzzle, instead of a bowl.

It is important to understand that training your dog will require a lot of patience and repetition. It often takes a dog between 25 and 50 repetitions before they are able to learn a new command. Getting frustrated will only delay your results and may hurt your relationship with your pet.

Another suggestion to keep in mind when training your dog is that it is important to ensure that your dog has all of his needs fulfilled. Your dog will not respond well to praise or punishment and will not be able to focus on learning skills, if he is not being well taken care of. Be sure to feed him well, shelter him comfortably and spend time playing with him.

When you have gotten a new dog and you are working on training, a key thing to remember is that you must always enforce the commands that you give your dog. Do not let the dog ignore you, and do not say the command over and over. If you are not going to be strong enough to enforce what you are saying, you might as well not waste your time.

Be sure that you introduce it to social environments early and frequently when training your dog. Your dog needs to know how to act around other dogs and humans – this is not something you can teach it otherwise. This will help to reduce sporadic behavior in new environments as well.

After learning some helpful hints on how one can get through to their dog and train it to behave to the owners expectations the individual simply needs to follow what they learned. After changing their behavior to fit with what the tips suggested an individual can properly train their dog.
