One of the most worthwhile things you can do, to live a deeply fulfilling and satisfying life is to “know thyself” as the Greek philosopher, Socrates said. What exactly does this mean and how do you do it? There are many different tools out there to help you do this but one of the easiest and most fun is by working out your basic personality type using the Myers Briggs instrument. The test is based on the work of Carl Jung and was later refined during the Second World War. Since then, it has become one of the foremost personality tests helping people work out who they are and what work best suits their natural temperament. We all have special gifts. Sometimes it’s just hard to uncover and see them for ourselves. Once you understand your basic “type” of which there are sixteen, it becomes easier to recognise your own strengths and weaknesses. So, why bother understanding these? One good reason is that you will bring into your conscious mind those parts of yourself, that you know aren’t great or well developed. It’s really about learning to love and accept yourself. Once you’ve done this, life seems to become so much easier because you are not fighting the elephant in the room or forcing yourself to live a life or lifestyle not suited to you. It also helps you to see more clearly your personal strengths and how to play to them and live a life that uses and compliments them. In other words, it’s another tool for living your most authentic life! So, let’s have a look at the framework of the test. There are four basic aspects to the human personality

1. How we interact with the world. 2. Where we direct our energy. 3. The kind of information we naturally notice. 4. How we make decisions and whether we prefer a more structured way of life or a more spontaneous way.

Some people call these four aspects “dimensions” because each one can be pictured as a continuum or line between two extremes like this.

(E) Extroversion——-+—–Introversion (I) (S) Sensing————+— -Intuition (N) (T) Thinking———–+—–Feeling (F) (J) Judging————+—-Perceiving (P)

When you do the test, you will end up with four letters in a particular sequence which will give you the basic scaffold of your “type” You will either be an E or an I, an S or an N, a T or an F and a J or a P. I’m going to explain what those words/letters mean because it’s slightly different from normal usage.

1. The I/E dimension The first continuum is that of extraversion and introversion. These words are often loaded with positive and negative connotations which are not helpful. One is not better than the other, just different. Extroverts are outward turning, they get their energy from spending time with people. They are action oriented and seek breadth of knowledge. They tend to act, then reflect, then act further. If they are inactive or spend too much time alone, their motivation tends to decline. Some E types who test as extroverts have an introverted need for time alone for reflection. These people tend to sit very close to the middle of the continuum but if they sit on the E side, they will still obtain their energy in this way. In contrast, introverts obtain their energy from “inside” of themselves and from time spent alone. Their flow is directed inward toward concepts and ideas. They are thought not action oriented. They seek depth and not breadth of knowledge and influence. Extraverts prefer frequent interaction. Introverts prefer substantial interaction. Introverts reflect then act then reflect again in the opposite sequence to extraverts. Think of an extravert as a mountain. If you look closely, you can see the whole thing. In contrast an introvert is like an iceberg, the biggest part of it is submerged beyond your vision.

2. Sensing/Intuition Sensing/Intuition skills are the information gathering functions. They describe how new information is understood and interpreted. Those closer to the sensor end, trust the information their 5 senses understand. They like and trust facts that are certain and concrete. They take on new ideas only if they have some kind of practical application. They value realism and common sense. They like to use and hone well established skills. They respond best to information presented in a logical step by step manner. Those closer to the intuitive end, trust inspiration and inference and understand abstract and theoretical concepts. They like new ideas and concepts just for their own sake. They value imagination and innovation. They like to learn new skills and get bored easily once they’ve mastered skills. They trust their own flashes of insight and look for meaning in how new information fits various patterns or theories. It should be becoming clear that people really do take in and understand information in very different ways. You can probably think of different friends or family members who fit one or other of these information gathering approaches.

3. Thinking/Feeling The thinking/feeling dimension is the way we make decisions and come to conclusions. Here “thinking” means making decisions impersonally or logically, based on facts. “Feeling” here isn’t referring to making decisions based on emotions. Rather it means basing decisions on things that are important or of value to the person as an individual. Remember, people who prefer thinking are not better thinkers and people who prefer feeling are not better at dealing with their emotions. The issue is about “how” we reach decisions and the criteria we look at. The thinker uses a more detached objective approach and the feeler looks at the things that matter to him or her when making the decision.

4. Judging/Perceiving This concerns whether we prefer to live in a more structured way or a more spontaneous way. People with a preference for judging are not more judgmental. Rather they prefer to live in a more orderly way and are happiest when their lives are structured and matters are settled. They like to make decisions and are very good at getting things done and completing things. People with a preference for “perceiving” like to live spontaneously and are happiest when their lives are flexible. They like to stay open to many options and seek to understand their life rather than control it. Obviously most of us fall somewhere in between these two extremes as with all the dimensions. Everyone uses both judging and perceiving in daily life but each person will have a natural preference.

So, this is a brief overview of the Myers Briggs instrument. There is a lot more to learn if you are interested. Not only can it help you understand your own temperament better, but a basic understanding can also help you understand what other people’s dominant functions are and how to recognise when they are using them. Many of the upsets and misunderstandings between people in life boils down to a failure to understand how someone else perceives a situation and what their default reaction patterns are, based on their dominant function. It’s a fascinating insight into our many differences and the best ways we can resolve them.

Balancing Artistic Values With Artistic Growth

The artist strives for creative growth and development. Exploration of new genres and media can create disconnects with essential artistic values. Discovering ways to blend personal creative priorities into new forms smooths the path for artistic growth and offers the best hope for ongoing positive audience recognition.

Balancing Artistic Values With Artistic Growth By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dan_E_Goldstein]Dan E Goldstein

By nature, the creative personality strives to evolve, to expand into new mediums and genres. And by nature, also, the creative personality seeks recognition and acknowledgment by peers and the public. Here is a new work that cannot be ignored! There is some potential for disconnect between these two aspects. Striving for artistic growth may not maximize the artist’s chances for positive recognition.

Even as the artist stretches into new realms, explores new techniques, opens to new genres, she must remain sensitive, responsive and true to her personal sensibilities. Her creative soul grew and was nurtured by formative experiences in the early years. For most artists these experiences revolved around some key teacher or teachers. Our teachers passed on traditions and values to us. We received these traditions and values and they established our creative foundations. Some of us received in the studios, some of us on the streets.

When we get stuck in projects, or when we discover that our new work is not having the hoped for impact on fans, there might be some benefit in revisiting what is fundamental to our creative souls, our creative vision. Perhaps a composer is branching into a more loop driven, electronic genre. He is listening to a lot of house, euro, trance, and dubstep. He builds loops which reflect the recent influences but can’t seem to move compositions along, or end results just don’t come to standard. Perhaps our struggling composer has temporarily forgotten that he spent 25 years of his life struggling to achieve an ideal sound on an acoustic instrument and to deliver a beautiful, sustained line. These traditional notions of sonic beauty and classical line are not necessarily at the top of the electronica genre priority list. But some magic may occur when the classically grounded musician applies her traditional notions of beauty and line to the new style. Now she has stretched her creative soul into a new space. She has reaffirmed her own essential artistic values even as she embraces new, less familiar forms.

The pressure to create in genres which are current, which have some popular following, is a good thing. It keeps art out of ivory towers. And most artists are not satisfied to work in a vacuum. We want to share, to recognize and be recognized. These pressures to stay current and achieve recognition can disengage us temporarily from our creative foundations. These are the very foundations which truly give us a chance to succeed in new genres and to win acclaim by synthesizing something new and something old in a way never done before.

Stay true to yourself as you expand your horizons. What makes your work unique and great and powerful is your synthesis of what is you with what is new.

Energy Healing

Energy Healing By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Roberto_Bonomi]Roberto Bonomi

WHAT IS ENERGY HEALING?

The laying on of hands, also known as energy healing, energy therapy, bioenergy therapy, biofield therapy and energy work, promotes healing by enhancing the energy flow and correcting disturbances in the human aura that surrounds the body. This improvement of the flow of aura’s energy supports the self-healing capacity of the body.

The laying on of hands is an old healing modality that is making its way back into our lives in a revival of ancient understandings. All around the world people is learning how to sense energy, move their energy and they are rediscovering energy healing therapies.

The application of energy fields for healing, implies the generation of a magnetic field strong enough to produce changes in the body without harming it, and that field should be refined enough to treat specific illness, because treating the aura with a large frequency spectrum is not enough.

Vibrational healing or the laying on of hands can restore people to a state of health and harmony in four planes:

physically

mentally

emotionally

and spiritually

IS THERE ANY OTHER KIND OF HEALING?

No there is not!

Everything that exists is energy, so every healing involves energy although most healing methods are only focused on the physical level.

Energy healing works over the energetic level of our being, and from there it influences the physical, emotional, mental and the spiritual level.

Energy healing is then a holistic healing method, because it addresses the energy of which the body mind and emotions are composed, complementing and supporting the other healing methods.

the vibrational healers treat people by using pure energy that affects the energetic system acting as a type of wave-guide to redirect or realign the affected subtle energies.

ENERGY HEALING AND ENERGY MEDICINE

Energy healing works through the laying on of hands, and is only part of a wider field called Energy Medicine that uses crystals, herbs, sound or mind control.

All of them work over vibratory patterns which influence the energetic patters at work in the physiology

Some healers like to employ crystals or other tools to produce energy healing, but energy healing if more often produced by the interaction of the healer with the healee in the energetic level. (Excellent references on energy medicine are Richard Gerber’s Vibrational Medicine and James Oschman’s Energy Medicine.)

THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELDS

The physical body that we see in a mirror is not the only one that we have, we also have an energy field thaT surrounds us named The Aura. The physical body is our most dense expression of energy, and we also have many other bodies sometimes called The subtle bodies

There are many different descriptions of our aura, but most of them describe it as having different layers.

There are also other important energy centers named The chakras where important exchanges of energy take place and that are also influenced by the energy healing.

WHAT SCIENCE SAYS ABOUT THE ENERGY HEALING

On the western civilization knowledge is acquired through the “trial and error method” or the “scientific method” but this is not the only way of gaining knowledge or maybe I should say that the “scientific method” only gains knowledge about through the information that our senses provide us, but there are other ways of gaining knowledge that eastern civilization believe to be equally valid.

“Scientific method” can only prove what we can perceive through one or more of our five senses (“seeing is believing” we say), but there are those who are able to perceive through higher sense perception

But it has also being found that the observer affects the object of observation through the act of observing, so there must be something that happens in some other kind of energy field that our scientific do not accept as real by now.

And modern science is making every day discoveries about new healing methods that are consistent with the idea of influencing the human energy field with other energies (sound, heat, etc.)

Undoubtedly very few scientists will accept the idea of energy healing, but there are beginning to be some researches that indicate that healing does have an effect. Herewith I will mention only one, but you can read about the others below in the References.

A SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT

The following experiment proved that therapists practicing non-contact healing methods are able to induce significant changes in the energy field of blindfolded test subjects.

An individual was isolated behind a divider and a conductivity (or Kirlian) image was taken of his finger.

The practitioner drew a card on which the word “brighter” was written (he was the only one in the room to see the card), then he proceeded to move his hands around the test subject without touching him, in attempt to make the conductivity image of the test subject brighter

Then another image was taken after 3 minutes of attempting to increase conductivity.

The for the next three minutes the practitioner moved his hands around the test subject in an attempt to make the conductivity image of the text subject less bright, and another photo was taken.

The photos clearly indicated that the practitioner successfully increased the energy when he attempted to do it, and then decreased the brightness of the test subject conductivity without touching him when he was instructed to do so.

The brighter and smoother images observed after the experiment not only indicated that the test subject’s energy changed, but also that an effective therapy was administered.

NOTE: If you want more information about this experiment you can find it at the CHI Institute: [http://www.chiexplorer.com]

WHAT DOES THE SCIENCE KNOW ABOUT THE HUMAN BODY’S ENERGY FIELDS?

These energy fields are quite measurable and there is strong evidence that known biophysical mechanisms can account for the observed phenomena.

All of us know that the human body has some electric fields that can be measured with techniques as EMG, EEG and EKG, ant that electrical signals are produced and received by the body.

In 1963 at Syracuce University it was also reported the first measurement of the magnetic field of the human heart, and in 1971 a superconducting magnetometer named SQUID was used to measure the magnetic field of the Brain.

In 1991 Seto and colleagues measured the magnetic field between the hands of healers and was established to be less than 1% or the hearts magnetic field. And if the heart magnetic field can regulate biological functions it is certainly feasible that the magnetic field coming out from the hands of the healers might also influence biological functions.

In 1989 Del Guiudice et al verified the existence of the Josephson junction, a superconducting semiconductor present in the living tissue

In 1993 McCraty discovered that the DNA acts as a superconducting magnetic field detector, able through the Hall effect to detect and produce magnetic signals, and to act as a signal amplifier.

Thus the modern science has discovered many mechanisms by which it is possible for healers to produce magnetic and electric healing energy to influence the patients. (those who see more information about this matter can read “The Scientific Basis of Energy Medicine” by James L. Oschman, 1998).

WHAT DOES THE HEALEE FEEL

After an energy healing session, the healee can experience significant and substantial shifts in mind, body and spirit.

He can either experience a reduction or elimination of the symptoms, or a sense of love, acceptance and deep letting go.

How to Be More Confident: 3 Things You Can Do Right Now to Silence Your “Inner Critic”

Lacking self-confidence stems from a whole myriad of factors, eg, how we were raised, how we look, how smart we are, etc.  Some of these things we can control; others we can’t. An “ongoing” lack of confidence can be largely attributed to the voice in our heads – what psychologists frequently refer to as our inner critic. In spite of this, we can learn how to become more confident; and many times all we have to do is learn how to turn off this voice – or at least quiet it.

How to Be More Confident: 3 Things You Can Do Right Now to Silence Your “Inner Critic” By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Shari_L_Strong]Shari L Strong

Before we get to the three quick ways you can start doing this, let’s look at the toll this voice takes on our lives.

Your Inner Critic: How It Keeps You from Being More Confident – and Ruins Your Dreams

“Jane is way more qualified; you’re never going to get that promotion.”

“You have to have the right connections to get appointed to that committee; there’s no way I’ll be seriously considered.”

“I hate my hair; it looks like a disheveled mop. Man I wish I had straight hair!”

For many, thoughts like these run through the head on autopilot. Why aren’t positive thoughts just as easy to come by? The simple fact is, many of us are so accustomed to thinking of ourselves as “less than” that we don’t even stop to question why.

And make no mistake, these thoughts have a profound effect on how we live our lives. For example, if you believe that Jane is more qualified than you for a promotion, you’re unlikely to put for the effort needed to get the promotion. After all why bother, Jane IS more qualified than little ole you.

And this is why it’s necessary to learn how to become more confident. To this end, following are three easy things you can do – right away – to silence the inner critic in your head – and get on the road to becoming more confident.

1. Acknowledge the Thought:  When negative thoughts rear their unproductive heads, stop and take a moment to recognize this, eg, “I just told myself that I’m not connected enough to get that committee appointment.” The reason this is important is because you can’t change what you don’t acknowledge.

2. Combat It with Positivity:  The minute you recognize the thought, come up with a positive counter to it, eg, “I was tops in sales and my boss gave me a sterling review last quarter; I could ask her for a recommendation.”

One of the quickest ways to learn how to become more confident is to respond to replace the critical thought with a positive one.

3. Write It Down:  If you keep a diary, you’d be amazed at how often you tell yourself negative things, which leads to low self-esteem, which leads to dream snatching behavior. There’s nothing like seeing it in black and white to start actively combating it all the time.

Learning how to become more confident takes practice – like any skill worth learning. But it’s critical to having the courage to living the full, rich life you deserve.

Most of the best snacks and appetizers are very simple to make. You can dress up any recipe, any way you like to make it more fitting for your taste. I have provided a few great Super Bowl appetizer recipes below to get you going:

My grilled jalapeno popper recipe is simple, but people can’t get enough. Pick up some of your favorite BBQ sauce to dip these little babies in. It is best to eat them hot and dip in cold sauce!

1. Grilled Jalapeno Popper Recipe:

Ingredients:

36-Pickled jalapenos 1-8oz. package of cream cheese 1-Pound thinly sliced bacon 64-Toothpicks
