Use Faith to Move the Mountains in Your Life

You cannot NOT believe. Your mind is always believing something. Your faith will move heaven and earth to create what you believe, to move and re-order your experiences, your mountains, into what you desire.

Use Faith to Move the Mountains in Your Life

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea: and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. ~ Mark 11:22-23

Jesus told us to have faith in God. Other translations tell us to “have the faith of God” or to “have the God-kind of faith”.

Not doubt… Not ‘hope so’… Not ‘if it be Thy will’…

His will is His Word. If He said it, you can have it!

Faith steps forward with conviction and plants both feet firmly. It stands without wavering until the desired result appears.

I wish I could just open your brain and pour in the faith you need to always stay positive and God-focused. I wish I could convince you that no matter what is going on in your life, it’s temporary. The Bible calls it ‘temporal’. As long as we are here on this earth, everything is subject to change! And you have more to do with that change than you think.

You see, God told us to ‘have dominion’ (Gen. 1:27). He told us to choose between the blessing and the curse (Deut. 30:19). In great measure, our lives here are not determined by God. They are determined by our faith. We choose…

Let’s look at the process more closely.

First, understand that you cannot be without faith. Faith is a force of the universe. It is present in every person. You are believing something, all the time. You believe the chair will hold you, that the lights will work, that you’ll get a paycheck at the end of the week. Faith is the power behind your habits, preferences, thoughts, words and actions.

Atheists say they do not ‘believe’ in God. That means they do believe there is not a God. You cannot NOT believe. Your mind is always believing something. As the saying goes, ‘If you believe you can, or believe you can’t, you’re right!’ It’s all about what you believe, not what you want to believe, or hope will happen. Faith requires conviction.

What are you thinking?…

Faith in negative circumstances is called ‘fear’. Fear is belief in the power of something to harm you in some way. We fear the loss of a job because we ‘believe’, rightly or wrongly, that our position is in jeopardy, and that the loss will be painful and harmful. People have ‘faith’ that snakes, spiders, airplanes, oceans, and heights are harmful. That snake or spider is sleeping peacefully in the sun, but your negative faith triggers a reaction of apprehension or fright. Hundreds of people fly or sail on cruise ships every day, but the mere thought of doing so makes your heart pound and your stomach flop. All of it happens only IN YOUR HEAD. Your world is governed by your thoughts!

Choose faith.

From Genesis to Revelation, God reminds you to trust Him. “Believe only”, He tells you. “Fear not.”

Why do you think He stresses that? John explains it this way. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love (I John 4:18). Remember that God is love, so there is no fear in God. His very presence reduces fear to nothing.

It’s a measuring stick of sorts. If you’re afraid of something, you’ve excluded God’s presence in that situation. He wants to help, but you’re letting fear take precedence. If you allow fear and doubt, God will not interfere. You have to choose to ‘fear not, believe only’ (Luke 8:50). The results you want are on the other side of your faith.

Move that mountain!

See that mountain? It might be a mountain of debt. It could be a pile of pain. Or maybe it’s a seemingly insurmountable (no pun intended!) problem. Fear not! Instead, speak to it. Mark 11:23 says ‘say to the mountain’. Don’t beg and plead with God. He gave you His Word and faith. He told you to ‘have dominion’ (Gen. 1:26). He said that He has already given you the victory (I Cor. 15:57) and John explained that the victory that overcomes anything in the world is your faith! (I John 5:4).

Use it. Stretch it. Strengthen it with practice and determination. Hang on to the promises of God and speak only what you want, not what you already have. What you have is right in front of you – no faith needed. It already IS.

Faith – your faith – will move heaven and earth to create what you believe, to move and re-order your experiences, your mountains, into what you desire. God has promised to give you ‘the desires of your heart’ (Ps. 37:4). All it takes is faith – unmovable, unshakable unstoppable mountain-moving faith.

Can You Follow Your Passion At Work?

The reason most people lose their motivation is that they are no longer truly engaged in their work or their organisation. What was once the novelty of the job has now worn off and if you don’t feel there are clear next steps for you and you can’t see a way out, it’s easy to lose your drive and enthusiasm. That is, unless you are working at your passion.

Can You Follow Your Passion at Work?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Julia_L_Carter]Julia L Carter

There is a lot of talk nowadays about striving to be fulfilled human beings and getting our work life balance right – all very important aspects of the way we now consider work as only a part of our existence and not the ‘be all and end all’ it once was. There is also an increasing emphasis on ‘following your passion’ and finding activities that truly resonate with your life purpose. In a work sense ‘a passion’ can be the thing that energises you completely, that you could do for hours and hours on end and that you would do even if you weren’t being paid for it. That’s how you define your passion!

How do I find my passion?

If you’re a musician, an actor, a scientist, a doctor you may have already discovered this; it’s the ‘calling’ that strongly attracts people to certain professions often from a very early age and they are more or less impelled to follow. But I imagine if you are reading this then you are not quite in that category and your career path has not been so clearly defined!

There are nonetheless aspects of work that you are attracted to or repelled by.

Here are some tips to help you find your passion:

1 Make a list of your ‘likes’ and ‘dislikes’ – this is a good place to start if you aren’t totally sure which way to go.

2 Also ask yourself the question ‘What do I do that makes my heart sing and that I would do even if I wasn’t paid to do it?’ this may not be the total job but just an aspect of your present, or past, employment activity. For example you may be a team leader with targets to hit and budgets to balance but the part of the job that you really enjoy is being able to help others sort out their interpersonal problems and find ways forward.

3 Ask yourself, if there anything from the past that you have renounced that you’d now like to bring back into your life? You might have given up ballet or football at an early age because of injury – is there some way you can get involved again, maybe as a non-participant but as a dresser for the local ballet company or an accountant for the local football club? Yes, I know these aren’t paying jobs (though they may be) but some people find that they increase their motivation and enthusiasm for their work if they are engaged in a fulfilling occupation outside of work.

4 Now find opportunities to follow the things you love; get fulfilled and get motivated. For that team leader who loves helping people find their own solutions, they might be an ideal mentor for the company or a cross-departmental coach. If you can see you have skills and abilities that you’d really like to use at work but don’t have the chance to in your current job, then set about finding or creating the opportunity. Your manager might help you and your organisation will certainly appreciate your sense of initiative.

And who knows where that might lead?

ACTION!

Find a way to incorporate something you love doing into what you do now. Be creative!

How to Properly Anchor Your Boat

How to properly anchor your sailboat…you need to know the depth of the water, you need to know how much chain you have attached to the anchor, you need to know the condition of the bottom, wind direction and how close you are to other boats.

How to Properly Anchor Your Boat
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gary_Pierce]Gary Pierce

We lived on our sailboat Shadowtime for eight years in the Caribbean.

Observing other boats go through what we called anchor drill said a lot about their sailing skills.

When done properly anchoring is a simple drill… no yelling is necessary, it takes a very short period of time, and resetting the anchor is almost never required.

You always anchor with your boat going very slowly directly into the wind.. if the anchorage is unfamiliar the chart should be consulted first for what depth of water to expect.

If your boat draws say 6 feet of water you should look to anchor in 12 feet or water or less.

A cruising sailor will almost always have his primary anchor… usually a plow type, like a CQR brand, on 200 feet of chain. The heavier the anchor, we had a 35 pounder, the less likely the anchor would come loose and require resetting… we had friends with a 45 pound CQR, they referred to as their sleeping pill.

When anchoring, in 12 feet water, the rule of thumb is to have eight times the depth of water in chain deployed, in this case 96 feet of chain. The more chain you have lying flat on the bottom the less chance the anchor will break free.

The competent sailor, on the bow will ask for the depth of the water by using a hand signal… one finger pointing down… the person on the wheel reads the depth gauge and reports the depth…this is the only voice communication required when anchoring, the rest is simple hand signals.

Once the proper depth has been selected another hand signal is given to put the boat in neutral… the anchor is then dropped, the proper amount of chain is deployed, and you wait for 30 seconds or so to let the wind move the boat to where the anchor chain starts to become taut.

At this point another hand signal is given to put the boat in reverse… as the anchor chain becomes taut and straightens out… the anchorer will signal for the boat to be put in neutral… the boat slightly springing forward is an indication that the anchor is set.

If you are confident that the anchor is set, you attach the “snubber”…a snubber is 8 to 10 feet of line with a hook appropriately sized for the size of chain that you have… usually 3/8 or one half-inch.

You lean over the bow and attach the snubber to the deployed anchor chain, putting some slack in the chain between the snubber and where you tie the snubber off to a cleat on the boat.

The snubber acts as a shock absorber… chains don’t give much… and reduces the sound of the anchor chain to a minimum… you’ll know quickly if the snubber falls off due to the noise of the anchor chain.

Learning how to properly set your anchor is a skill all successful cruising sailors possess… if you do it right the first time… you’ll never have to do anchor drill at 2 AM.

Proper anchoring will set you apart from the rookies and help guarantee a good nights sleep on board. [http://www.baby-boomer-tips.com/sailingsalesletter/]Live the Dream.
