Promoting Your Virtual Assistance Business at a Trade Show

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Eunice_Nisbett]Eunice Nisbett

You have seen the banner advertising the trade show a number of times and wonder whether you should participate. In trepidation you call the organizers and to your surprise you are advised that you may participate. You are excited; however you do not know where to start.

Here are some guidelines for promoting your virtual assistance business at a trade show or exposition.

Know your product well and share that knowledge. A well thought out and themed PowerPoint presentation is a good way to explain the concept of virtual assistance and the services your offer. Include a display of your website in the presentation, and present the slide show as a looped presentation which visitors will view while waiting for a guided tour.

Display your logo prominently to promote your brand.

Grace your table with an appropriate tablecloth.

Out of mementos – you could purchase some small packs of cookies/nuts/chocolates/mints or whatever is within your budget and neatly paste your logos onto these. (Printing them on mailing labels will make the task easier). Place these in attractive small baskets, or other suitable container, on the table. This may draw visitors to your booth.

Do you have any postcards or other marketing material which you had previously designed? Then feel free to add these to the display.

Place on your table, stands holding laminated/framed posters highlighting (i) case studies (short statements) of the business support solutions which your business has provided to clients; and (ii) some testimonials.

Use wall space for large posters which define virtual assistance, outline the reasons for employing a virtual assistant, and highlight the services you offer.

Display a gallery of photographs of your team being involved in business support activities.

Have you been featured in the media? Then display these articles in an eye-catching format.

For additional takeaways, create and display an assortment of laminated double-sided bookmarks defining virtual assistance, and outlining your services. Include some useful tips, based on your audience.

Display samples of your products.

Prepare folders containing promotional material such as background information on your business, and your service offerings. Do remember to include a contact form.

Have a supply of personal business cards available. (Feel free to include your Business Cards in select folders. For example, a prospect might be keenly interested in your service offerings and would like to meet for discussions at a later date.)

Include on your table a labeled drop box for Business Cards.

Prepare a single document for noting names, enquiries and areas of interest. This will come in useful where persons neglect to complete the contact forms provided, or do not have Business Cards with them.

Brief any personnel who will be manning the booth, on the dress for the event (Polo shirts bearing your logo could be an appropriate choice if you wish to have a business-casual code).

Discuss appropriate introductions with staff and if necessary develop a script for interacting with visitors. Assign tasks.

Look for ways to soften the booth. Potted plants, for example, may add a softer touch to the booth.

After the trade show: (i) send a note of thanks to visitors who took the time to visit your booth; and (ii) add relevant contacts from the Business Cards you received, to your database of contacts.

Trade shows provide exposure for your business and present a great opportunity for learning, generating leads, marketing, and growing your business.

How the First Ever Light Bulb Was Invented

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jade_Jennison]Jade Jennison

Electric light bulbs never used to be so simple and technologically advanced in the 19th century and in our modern day we disregard this privilege. Over two centuries ago the only source of light, excluding natural sunlight, was candles, gas lamps and lanterns. With the excitement of the founding of electricity in the 18th century, the concentration of producing an electric powered light bulb soared immensely.

Many of the initial attempts to create something so revolutionary failed as scientists found it difficult to perfect the light as it was different to anything they had ever seen before. Thomas Edison is the widest known creator of the light that lit up the world but there were attempts before him that very nearly perfected the invention.

In 1806, 70 years before Thomas Edison introduced his invention to the world; Humphrey Davy created a powerful electric lamp and demonstrated it to the Royal Society. It consisted of two charcoal rods which when fused together by electricity created a blinding spark of light – this was then rejected as the light was so bright it was impractical for home and work purposes. Another disadvantage to this was that it needed a great source of power to run meaning that it went out very quickly. Despite this, efforts were made to split the light into a healthy source to brighten up rooms, which eventually failed. This specific type of light was however reinforced when electric generators were invented and they were used in lighthouses and to power huge searchlights during wars.

A completely new technique was introduced into the scientific world which was named ‘incandescence’ and was a more promising source of electric lighting. This started as scientists were aware that if you passed electricity through some materials they would eventually heat up and glow but this research usually resulted in the material melting or bursting into flames. With the progression through science for incandescent lighting a lot of alternative materials and ways of maintaining the glow were discovered and researched.

Several patents were given to scientists who discovered new ways of designing these lights after realising the huge profit that would come out of perfecting the creation. British born Frederick DeMoleyns patented a bulb which used the technique of starving platinum and carbon of oxygen as the electricity was passing through which would then prevent the materials from coming alight. Along with other improvements on electric lighting, these never proved practical enough to be sold for everyday use.

It was not until Thomas Edison began researching to create a better light bulb after recognising the financial success that it would bring. Edison was popular for creating many inventions such as the phonograph and the motion pictures kinetoscope. After only a few months of working on the incandescent light bulb project he declared to newspapers that he had solved the problem of electric lighting; shortly after stating this it was found out that he simply had an idea and had not perfected the creation.

In October 1879 Edison began to see results as he had created a carbonized thread which burned for 13 hours during an experiment and he was given a patent for this. Months after the patent was given, Thomas Edison used carbonized bamboo burners, now called filaments, which burned for a fantastic 600 hours. After such a break-through for electric lighting, he established Edison Electrical Light Company in 1882 and began to light up New York.

Although we are oblivious to the use of electric lighting in this present day, research is still being carried out to create light bulbs which are more energy efficient and improve the light bulb overall. The results may not be as revolutionary as the work of Thomas Edison but there has been an astonishing improvement since the birth of lighting itself.

How to Introduce New People and New Friends Into Your Life

How to Introduce New People and New Friends Into Your Life
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Susan_Leigh]Susan Leigh

There are times in life when we are all aware of the need to introduce new people into our lives. We may have started a new job, have just come out of a longterm relationship, or are simply feeling the need to freshen up our existing patterns and routines.

Here are a few thoughts on ways for you to introduce new people and friendships into your life:

– It may be important to first work on your confidence and self-esteem levels. Some people find that starting to make friends from scratch is a daunting proposition; who would want to be their friend, where do they start? Addressing issues, healing the negative inner voice and longterm patterns of behaviour may require hypnotherapy or counselling to allow a more positive attitude and outlook to emerge.

– Identify what interests you. There is no point in committing to regularly go to watch football matches or rock concerts if the prospect fills you with dread. Decide what you would like to do, what appeals to you and then investigate that option.

– Take new relationships steady. If you’re going somewhere regularly, like work, the gym, a club, there are going to be people whom you see on a regular basis. Smiling and saying hello may lead to the opportunity to ask if they have time for a coffee, or would they be interested in sharing a quick bite of supper later.

– Observe how others interact. Social skills are learned over time. New children will stand to one side and watch a group before they join in. They see what is acceptable, who they like and who they are wary of. Adult relationships are no different. Discovering what is customary in a group helps you to learn how to easily fit in.

– Be aware of your own boundaries. It’s important to feel comfortable and be yourself. There may be certain things that interest you, whilst other things are not to your taste. Allow yourself to go along with what feels right for you. Trying out new interests can be important as a way of gaining new experiences but regularly committing to things out of a desire to fit in or to please others can result in you becoming unhappy and frustrated at the amount of time and energy you waste.

– Accept invitations. Going somewhere, even somewhere that may not sound too appealing can be a useful introduction to other people or interests. And you may surprise yourself at how well the opportunity turns out.

– Rejection need not be taken personally. Sometimes people will decline your invitation or not appear interested in following your lead. In the same way that you may have made a prior arrangement or are not keen on some activities, accept that as being a possibility for them too. Be resilient, accept that some situations don’t work out and move on. And indeed, just as there are some people you are not too keen on, determine to focus on the ones you like and who like you.

– Have a plan b. Keep your spirits up. If there are times, like Bank Holidays, Valentines Day or your birthday, when you have nothing arranged, use that as a time to pamper yourself. Treat yourself to your favourite food, organise a film that you wanted to see, set aside time to read a book, listen to music, buy yourself a big bunch of flowers and make it a special time for yourself.

Not everyone in your life needs to be a special friend. Enjoy the people you meet, who appear to like you. Be relaxed and avail yourself of the social opportunities that come your way. By adopting a more relaxed approach you may well find that you have a full social diary and lots of friends and interesting people in your life.

Is Fish Oil Healthy?

Is Fish Oil Healthy?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=R_Hegde]R Hegde

Recently there is a lot of buzz on the effects of fish oil on the human body. The benefit of such an essential fatty acids which is contained within the fish oil is tremendous and has become a research topic for scientists, who are calling it the miracle of the 21st century. But do we have any idea of what exactly are these fish oils and what they consist of and most important why are they good for us?

Fish oils are known to contain fatty acids which are very necessary for our health. Our body don’t have the capacity to produce such fatty acids. The only way to get them is through either food or supplements. It is generated through the tissues of fish and hence fish is an essential food product needed by humans. This fatty acid obtained from fish is also known as Omega 3 or polyunsaturated fatty acids.

The most common way to procure Omega 3 for the human body is by eating fish such as salmon, tuna and halibut. Omega 3 is abundantly found in these fishes. But since people do not know the benefits of consuming fish oil they do not eat enough, to get the required amount of these fatty acids which is essentially needed by the body.

Some of the most important health benefits of consuming Omega 3 fatty acids every day are stated below.

The presence of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) which are the most dominant fats present in the human body are found in fish oils. DHA is required for providing optimal mental performance in the form of cognitive function, memory building, being focused and learning ability as well as for visual perception; thus making it an essential fatty acid for brain development. On the other hand EPA plays a vital role in regulating blood flow and maintains a healthy heart.

Fish oils lower the level of LDL cholesterol which is bad for the human heart and increases the level of HDL cholesterol, which is good for the human heart. It also prevents the accumulation of triglycerides which blocks the arteries hence effectively treating heart attack, strokes and abnormal heart rhythms as well as improves blood circulation. This finding is supported by the clinical trials carried out by the American Heart Association.

Arthritis, rheumatism and similar conditions can be treated by regular intake of Omega 3. They reduce the impact of enzymes which destroy cartilages as well as provide relief from chronic inflammation. Studies have shown that it has helped in increasing grip strength, reduce joint stiffness and pain and improve walking pace.

It is also good for reducing depression, sadness, anxiety, restlessness, mental fatigue and stress. The central nervous system consists of a chemical named Serotonin which contributes towards the happiness and well-being in humans. Omega 3 is known to increase the level of serotonin.

In Between

In Between
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Abigail_Steidley]Abigail Steidley

I got out my trusty mind-body journal (which is just a spiral bound notebook where I use all my own tools on myself). I went outside to sit quietly and be with myself. In Wyoming, that means sitting in a clump of sagebrush. I picked a spot with a great view of a beautiful valley, breathed in the scent of sage, and got quiet. I asked my soul to help me understand what is going on in my life right now.

Soon after I asked, I heard my soul’s answer. It said, “You’re in the In-Between.”

The In-Between is a place the mind doesn’t fully grasp. The In-Between requires the wisdom of the body and emotions and soul. Otherwise, the mind just gets confused.

My soul helped me to understand the In-Between. As I sat, I saw images of my life this year like pictures on a movie screen.

Getting pregnant for the first time in my life

Celebrating the pregnancy with my husband

Working on my coaching business

Having a miscarriage

Grieving with my husband

Grieving, in general

Discovering new things about myself

Finding out I wasn’t saying everything I wanted to say – to readers, to clients

Getting new ideas for my business

Being in the process of starting new projects

Considering getting pregnant again

Waiting for my body to feel like getting pregnant again

Waiting for my soul to feel like getting pregnant again

Being in the process of renovating and redecorating my house

Being in the process of creating a new website and new material

Doing new work, with new people

Not having the end vision yet, for anything

Right now, everything is started. Nothing is done. I don’t have a full vision of what everything will look like. I’m not totally sure what I want, yet. I’m exploring. I’m not deciding. I’m looking at all the different flavors. I’m tasting them. I’m not sure yet which ones I’ll choose.

My soul explained that the In-Between is necessary. It is, in fact, more important than the Not In-Between. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can happen without the In-Between. Nothing can be born without the space from which to be born. Healing happens in the In-Between. The In-Between is about discovery. It’s the thing that happens before gestation. Even before a seed is planted.

In music, there’s a thing called a rest. It’s a notation on the music score that tells you to not make any sound for a certain number of beats. Most beginning musicians ignore the rests. Their eyes skip over them and see the next music note on the page. As a teacher, I used to have to explain, over and over again, that the rest was just as important as the note. That it was more important, because if you played in the rest, the music no longer worked. Playing in one rest could mess up an entire symphony. It could cause cacophony and dissonance. It could bring the entire orchestra to a grinding halt. Now I’m explaining to myself that the rest is just as important as the note.

The In-Between is a rest between two notes. It’s the murky, not-clearly-defined place between imagining and creating. I am imagining a lot right now. I imagine different colors of home dcor in different rooms in my house. I imagine giving birth in different months of the year. I imagine different images on my website.

I don’t decide. Yet. I don’t start.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll know more. In fact, this week I did choose some colors for the living room. They feel right. But the living room is still in process.

I pick one little thing at a time. I imagine some more. I listen to my body.

And, I grieve. Still.

In my opinion, we think the grieving process is a lot shorter than it really is. At first, grief is like a flood. It consumes everything we do. Later in the process, it becomes like summer thunderstorms. It arrives suddenly and passes quickly, several times a week.

I’m learning to let grief be a part of my life. I’m learning that it’s okay to be in the middle, half this and half that, undecided, in and out – In-Between. The In-Between allows me time to process and assimilate the changes necessary right now to make my life an authentic representation of me.

My living room wasn’t quite me

My business wasn’t quite me

My website wasn’t quite me

I wasn’t quite me in my relationships

I wasn’t quite me in many ways.

I need a solid foundation of authenticity in my life before I race forward into What’s Next. I’m building it. I’m course-correcting where I need to – where I got off track due to not listening to my soul. Where I forgot to check in to see who I am, right NOW.

Course-correcting is just part of living. Sometimes I make little course corrections in a day, an hour, a minute. Other times I make a giant course correction that includes every aspect of my life.

The last time I made a giant course correction was when I stepped onto the mind-body path and decided to learn how to heal my body by bringing my mind, body, emotions, and soul into harmony. It was a major life change. It led to me being more authentic, to following my true dreams, to becoming a coach, and to giving myself permission to be me.

Then, I grew. I changed. I learned. It is time to catch up with myself again, and to really look closely at everything in my life. Last summer, I had a garage sale. I spent two weeks picking up objects and saying – does this fit into my life? Is this really me?

That process is still going on, in every aspect of my life. I’m in the In-Between.

It’s a place of discomfort, for me, and at the same time, I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. I love where everything is going. I love how much more me I’m being. I love all the new in my life. And at the same time, I grieve what I’m releasing. I let myself feel sad when the living room couch leaves. I let it go. I let myself love the new chairs that took its place.

Now I see that thanks to the In-Between, I’ll know the right moment to start anew with the motherhood project. I’ll know what feels right to put on my website. I’ll know what feels right to create for my clients. I’ll know what feels right to add to my home.

I asked my soul how long the In-Between would last. It just smiled.
