BLIZZARD SURVIVAL
What If a Blizzard Came – The Making of a Blizzard Survival Bag
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Parish]Joseph Parish
Here you are driving in North Dakota in the middle of winter. You have the radio turned on and winter weather warnings are in effect for the complete state. The outside temperature is down around the 10 to 20 degree mark with wind speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour. You have been moving slowly at a snails pace since it is difficult to see ten feet in front of you. No other cars have been sighted for the last 40 minutes.
You approach a curve in the road but the road ice is so thick you begin to slide to the side. You try to compensate for the drift however nothing you do can help you prevent the slide. You bounce off the road and into a ditch. You and your car sit motionless in the snow bank for a few moments because you realize you are stuck there until help arrives.
You manage to push open your car door and make your way out of the car to see what damages have been done and what your next course of action should be. You can see that to try and get out of the ditch is virtually impossible as your wheels are firmly packed with snow and ice. All you can manage to do is spin tires and possibly make your situation worse.
You did not bring a shovel of any sort and even if you had you probably could not shovel your way out of the snow bank. In fact you don’t even carry a safety flare in your trunk for notifying passing vehicles of your predicament. You grab your cell phone to call for help and realize your cell phone battery is totally dead.
You are freezing cold and you know that you will shortly die from exposure. What are you going to do now? You know what you are going to do because you planned well ahead of time by creating a Blizzard Survival Bag.
Reaching over under your seat and withdraw a plastic tote containing a flashlight, a thermal blanket, extra socks, your hand cranked radio, several small containers of canned and dried food, several water purification tablets, an ice pick, a film canister of water proof matches and a candle. You know you have rehearsed this scenario many times before but now its for real.
You empty the contents of the tote on the car seat beside you and survey all the items that was in it. You next take a small can of food and open it and quickly eat it. Using the can you place the small candle in the center of it being certain that it is secure. I recommend tea candles. They are inexpensive and sit low in the can so as not to tip over.
Using the water proof matches light the candle and sit it somewhere that it will be safe. Wrap the nylon thermal blanket securely around you to conserve your body heat. Use your hand cranked radio to maintain checks on the weather status. Should you be thirsty you can easily melt some snow using your food cans and your candle. It can be purified with the use of your water purification tablets.
Should a car be coming by make certain to use your flashlight as much as possible to alert the passing motorist of your situation. As a side note in states like North Dakota it is mandatory that in the wintertime passing motorists stop to see if anyone is inside of a broken down car along the road however don’t take unnecessary chances let them know you are there.
While it is fresh on your mind why not create your own Blizzard Survival Bag. Don’t delay until a disaster strikes because then it’s simply too late.

How to Achieve Your Goals and Dreams With 5 Simple Strategies
How to Achieve Your Goals and Dreams With 5 Simple Strategies
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dr._Shauntel_Peak-Jimenez]Dr. Shauntel Peak-Jimenez
The best time to begin working on your goals and dreams is now. You can no longer put off what it is you want to achieve. It is an unfortunate reality that time will continue to pass by whether you decide to step out in faith and work toward what you deserve, or not. Procrastination is one of the biggest dream killers that are around. It keeps people from taking action. It makes it seem like things will be easier later, but then sadly later never comes.
Below are 5 simple strategies that can assist you with achieving your goals and dreams.
1. Become committed to not procrastinate.
Just making a commitment to not put things off can be very empowering. If you have a habit of putting things off, just think about all of the things that habit has stopped you from achieving. Now imagine the things that you will continue to not achieve, if you don’t become committed to releasing procrastination out of your life. Now imagine the things that you can become blessed to achieve if you just make a commitment to not procrastinate.
2. Put your goal or dreams in writing.
It is a good idea to keep a journal of your aspirations. Write in your journal the things that are related to what you want to achieve. For example, you could write down the things that inspire you to reach your goals or dreams. You could also write down the reasons that you deserve to reach all that you strive to reach. You could also keep a list of the things that are challenging for you. These are the things that could be a potential obstacle for you. You could then write down how you will overcome the challenges. You could also keep track of action steps that you are going to take to reach your desired outcome. It is a good idea to write in your journal often.
3. Keep your goals or dreams in front of you.
It is not only important to write your aspirations, but it also important to keep them in front of you. This could mean something as simple as writing down your vision weekly on a sticky note, and putting that sticky note somewhere where you will continue to see it. If you don’t keep your goals and dreams in front of you it can be just like people say “Out of sight out of mind.” If you don’t continue to keep your future aspirations in front of you, then you may become less dedicated to what you are working toward and get off track. When you keep what you want to achieve in front of you that can help to keep things fresh in your mind, and help you stay inspired and motivated.
4. Share your goals and dreams.
It is a great idea to share your desires with others that you know support and believe in you. This is a form of accountability and can assist you with staying on track. If you are one who struggles with procrastination, then sharing your vision with someone else can help eliminate procrastination being an obstacle, to achieving what you want to achieve. Knowing that you have someone to be accountable to, can keep you moving.
5. Don’t give up.
No matter what comes your way it is extremely important to not give up on what you are working toward. You deserve to reach your success, so make it up in your mind that no matter what obstacles and challenges arise, giving up on your goals and dreams is not an option. When you develop that type of mind-set, it can truly help you become a master of goal and dream attainment.

Bullies-Part 2
Bullies – How Children Can Deal With Them Part 2
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=David_WB_Turner]David WB Turner
Security + Safety:
If you are bullied you need to be careful and look after your self. Bullies will usually wait until you are alone, because this is the easiest time to bully.
o Never go into quiet toilet areas alone
o Don’t go to quiet areas of the school with no one else around, or people that you don’t know.
o Never walk through parks, bush, quiet lane way.
o Don’t walk to and from school with your music headphones on.
o Never go into a someone’s house that your parents have not approved.
o Don’t hang around school very early in the morning, afternoons, or on weekends.
Always be aware of your surroundings
o Never walk home or to school alone, always try to have a buddy system and walk with someone you know.
Meetings
If you have a bully who will not stop despite all your efforts, you can ask your teacher or parent to arrange a meeting with the bully and their parents.
Communication is very important
This will bring all the problems that you are having with the bully to the surface, and could be the best way to solve the problem. If this has been done, and you are still being bullied, then tell your teacher and parents again and let them know what is going on. When you have the meeting, try and remember all the details of the bullying, when, where, and how.
You need to be as accurate as possible so that all the facts can be taken into account for your well-being. The problem needs to be fixed, and you must let people know.
Cyber Bullies
Bullies may send you mean, nasty and threatening messages. They may post sensitive and private information about you or another person. They may pretend to be someone else to get your attention.
They can do this using:
o E-mail
o Instant messaging
o Chat rooms
o Web pages
o Blogs
o Texting using mobile phones
o Photos using mobile phones
o Video using mobile phones
If you have any of these things happen to you, then tell your parents or teacher straight away. Leave the message/photos etc on your device so that the person you tell can see it. Also, try to identify who it may be. Never respond to this type of bullying. If someone has been talked about, or they are on the picture or video, then let them know, and also let your parents and teachers know.
Always report Cyber Bullying
Helping other Children with Bullies
If you know of someone who is being bullied tell someone about it. You can tell your teachers, parents, and friends. The person being bullied may not have the courage to tell someone and confront the bully. You can help by observing and reporting what has happened. Never join in with bullies. You are better than that, and it may feel like you are being pressured into helping a bully. But don’t. Let someone know that a bully is trying to encourage you to act like them, and who they are bullying.
Bullying is one of the worst things that can happen to you and your friends. You need to stick together so that you are strong.
Great job now let’s see if you can answer these!
Your parents can see if your are correct
1. Who can be a bully?
2. What should you do if you are bullied?
3. What are some ways that you can be bullied?
4. Should you tell someone if you people who are being bullied?
5. Should you hang around in lonely quiet areas like closed schools?
6. Is being bullied your fault?
7. Who can you ask help from?
8. Why is it good to tell someone?
9. Should you ignore the bully?
10. Should you go to the toilets alone?
